FIRST SIGNS OF CHRISTMAS RUSH AT MAGYAR POSTA WITH UPTURN AT THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER

This year, the growth in traffic at Magyar Posta due to Christmas gift orders started as early as the beginning of November. The Company has prepared for this by making a number of improvements to cater for the increased customer demand in a 21st-century manner.

As usual, the festive season gets under way with the Black Friday promotion, which falls on 24 November this year, but many companies began their campaigns earlier than that, causing an appreciable growth in the volume of parcels at Magyar Posta from mid-November.

This year, experts expected that digitalisation and e-commerce would slow down and even regress after recent years affected by the pandemic. However, online ordering shows no sign of slackening, whereas an ever larger number of people are buying more, but lower-value products via the internet, including more and more clothes, and increasingly from foreign webstores.

Magyar Posta has made a number of improvements during the year to meet customer needs. This year, parcel lockers at more than 500 terminals will be open across the country, allowing customers to conveniently and safely post and pick up parcels at any time of the day. The use of the lockers can also help avoid the risk of a surprise Christmas present being sent too early.

The national postal network has also been expanded by 393 partner post offices, run by 333 businesses and 60 local authorities, to enable Christmas gift parcels to be posted or Christmas greetings to be sent from anywhere in Hungary.

Moreover, for webstores marketing small and standard boxed products, as well as banks, insurance companies and telecommunications companies, the SMART by MPL service offers a robotic warehouse logistics solution enabling goods ordered from online shops which use Magyar Posta’s complex warehouse logistics service to reach customers within days.

Post offices are also ready for the increased year-end peak period, doing their utmost to provide quick, high quality service to customers. From the end of November onwards, Magyar Posta will be establishing Extra Parcel Points at the 35 locations used last year, where, alongside the existing parcel delivery workstations, there will be an additional counter specially set up for the end-of-year period to ensure fast parcel delivery. At the Extra Parcel Points, customers arriving to pick up parcels will enjoy priority service at all times during opening hours.

As in previous years, it is advisable to place last orders before 15 December at the latest to make sure that Magyar Posta can receive them from the webstores and have them delivered in the last week before Christmas. If you intend to order Christmas gifts online from abroad, we recommend ordering them in good time, in November, and in every case checking the seller’s website for information about the expected delivery time.
