MAGYAR POSTA HAS ADOPTED SAFE DELIVERY AND OTHER MEASURES NECESSARY DUE TO THE EPIDEMIC

Delivery rules for addresses subject to official home quarantine are being changed to further reduce the risk to delivery personnel. The company also decided to give priority to those over the age of 60 in the first hour of post office opening hours and to accept customer inquiries primarily through electronic channels.

Magyar Posta has implemented further measures to minimise the risk of infection and to protect the health of postal employees and the safety of the operation of postal service. As the number of households affected by official home quarantine continues to increase due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Company has decided to suspend personal delivery to addresses subject to official home quarantine and to simultaneously establish a new delivery procedure.

It has decided to suspend the delivery of mail items, that require personal delivery, to addresses with a red quarantine warning notice, until the quarantine is lifted. This means that it will not deliver registered letters, registered letters with confirmed receipt or letters with declared values, official documents or any vouchers (pension, payment and foreign) and parcels during the quarantine period. If these mail items should arrive, however, during this period, authorised recipients not subject to quarantine may collect them at the point of delivery. The postal service will attempt to deliver the mail items as normal after the quarantine is lifted, and will keep them in the event of unsuccessful delivery until receipt, but no later than the last working day of the deposit period.

During the quarantine period, the delivery personnel shall deliver ordinary letter items to the mailbox, together with leaflet describing the quarantine delivery rules.

As a further measure, Magyar Posta has decided within its competence to give priority to citizens over the age of 60, who are more vulnerable due to the epidemic during the first hour of postal opening hours. This means that after opening in the morning, postal employees arrange for customers over the age of 60 to be served first. This measure that has been in place since 25 March, of which all post offices have been informed. At the same time, we ask the elderly to stay at home as much as possible, since post offices are closed spaces with a lot of foot traffic, therefore the risk of infection cannot be ruled out despite all precautions. If possible, they should ask a relative to go to the post office for them if they have an unavoidable postal matter to take care of, or municipalities are also obliged to provide assistance to the elderly.

The company has also decided to temporarily provide a reduced telephone customer service from 25 March 2020, and is asking customers to primarily use the electronic channels (e-mail address, online forms) for Customer Service, as it has allocated additional resources to these channels.

Instead of postal cheque payments, we also advise our customers to use the shared iCsekk application of Magyar Posta and Díjnet, as bills can be paid quickly and easily by scanning the QR code on the cheque with the application.

All employees of Magyar Posta work to ensure the smooth provision of postal services and delivery of mail items. The company provides customers with continuous updates on its website about changes, post office opening hours and other customer information.
